You Never Know Who's Listening

Lisa, the wife of a U.S. senator, attended a Bible study every week. But she made it clear that her perfect attendance represented her curiosity, not her belief.
One day after the study, Sallie, who led the group, stopped to talk with Lisa. Sallie asked, “Lisa, what do you think about what you’ve been learning from the Bible?”
Lisa was quick to reply. She said, “Sallie, do you want to be my friend or just convert me?”
"Sallie, do you want to be my friend or just convert me?"
In her soft, gentle manner, Sallie told Lisa, “More than anything else in life, I want you to know Jesus. But if you never believe, Lisa, I’ll still love you.”
Every week Lisa would go home and tell her husband, the senator, all about the things she’d discovered in the Bible. Her husband did not know Jesus Christ either but was curious.
The senator, like many of his colleagues, had gone to Washington with high hopes. But in time, he grew frustrated with the bureaucracy and became discouraged. He began looking for answers that weren’t in Washington. He sensed they were in what his wife told him each week after her Bible study.
Then one day, Lisa called Sallie. She said, “Sallie, I think my husband wants to know God.” So, Sallie asked an associate to meet with the senator and to share the gospel with him.
One morning a few days later, Lisa reported that her husband had tossed and turned all night. He got up and went downstairs. “I think he beat me to it,” she said. “I think he did what you’ve been wanting me to do.” The senator had knelt alone in the night and trusted Jesus Christ.
He started a Bible study in his senate office and spoke openly of his faith.
God’s Word is far-reaching—to places we never expected. Talk openly about your faith because you ever know who’s listening.
My word that goes out from My mouth…will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. -Isaiah 55:11
