GOD is Holy
BECAUSE GOD IS HOLY (PERFECT AND CLEAN), HE IS ABLE TO MAKE MY DIRTY HEART CLEAN. I WANT HIM TO HELP ME KEEP IT THAT WAY!
Of all of God's attributes, nothing compares to the splendor and beauty of His holiness. It is chief among His attributes. That means His character is perfect in every way. He is totally pure. - Bill Bright
Holiness seems too heady for children to understand, but it's not. Simply put, God's Holiness means that He's Perfect and Clean in every way.
Kids can trust that God is Perfectly Loving, Perfectly Truthful and Perfectly Faithful.
Exploring Holiness cultivates an unshakable trust and transparency with a God who is Perfectly Dependable.
Teaching your children that God is Holy -- that He's Perfect and Clean, will give them a stable foundation for an unshakable faith.
Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty - the One who always was, who is, and who is still to come. Revelation 4:8
Use these questions to generate conversations about God's Holiness around the dinner table, driving to school or whenever you are with your kids.
-
Have you ever heard of any other gods that people worship?
-
What do you think of what you've heard?

INFLUENCE OTHERS - GOD IS HOLY
Impress someone special with your amazing knowledge of science! Show them this science experiment and share why this principle is important to you.

SCIENCE FACT #1 - "TOTAL REFLECTION"
This is a situation where 'light waves' are reflected in all directions so that you can no longer see a specific object at all. Try this experiment: Put a coin on a table. Now set a clear jar on top of the coin right side up. Pour pure, clean water into the jar and put the lid on. The coin will seem to have disappeared. No matter how hard you try to look through the water, it's as if the coin is not there. That's what happens when God makes us "pure and clean." He no longer 'sees' our sin and we can enjoy our relationship with Him.
DRAWING AND DRAMA:
JOURNAL JOTS:
Write a letter to God, in words and/or pictures share how you feel about His Holiness. Thank Him for paying for your sin and making you clean.
MAKE A WORDLESS BOOK:
Make a wordless book out of different colors of felt or construction paper. Discuss the colors and what they represent before accepting Christ and the colors representing ones life after accepting Christ:
-
Before Christ:
-
Black = sin.
-
-
After Accepting Christ:
-
Red = Jesus' blood,
-
White = Jesus washes our sins away and makes us as white as snow, and
-
Yellow = streets of gold.
-
The black represents how our hearts looked before accepting Christ - full of sin. Then Jesus' precious blood washed our sins away and made our heart as white as snow (white). The Bible tells us that someday when we are in Heaven with Jesus we will walk the streets of gold (Revelation 21:21, NLT). What a wonderful day when Jesus washes our sins away and makes us clean and pure. Aren't you looking forward to walking the streets of gold in Heaven with Jesus some day?
EXPERIENCE -- TEACHABLE MOMENTS:

PAID IN FULL
Your children will demonstrate their sinful nature at some point this week! (won't we all!) After you've dealt with any consequences needed, have them write the sin on a piece of toilet paper (or you do it for them). Then write "Paid in Full" with a red marker over the top of the sin and flush it down the toilet. Take a moment to thank God for His Holiness and that because of Jesus sacrifice, we are made clean too!

SHINE THE LIGHT!
We talked about the fact that when sin is out of the way, Jesus' Light shines through. Look for opportunities all week to encourage one another when you see Jesus' light shining in them.
Activities for God is Holy!
FAMILY FUN NIGHT IN THE MUD!
Play tug of war over a mud pit in your back yard or fill some buckets with mud and have a mud fight. The object of course is to get filthy dirty. (If a mud fight is not an option then do something that allows them to get dirty. You can even make some mud in a bowl and trade off putting mud on each other. This could be done indoor if the weather outside is too cold).
When finished, hose off, and go inside for some milk and cookies. Discuss: What did it feel like to be so dirty? Would you like to be that dirty all the time? What did it feel like to be clean again?
This would be a good time to do the following pure water activity as part of your discussion.
DRINK IT UP
Take a glass of pure water (preferably bottled water that says "pure" on the label). Talk about what makes the water pure (bad stuff is filtered out so only the good stuff is left). Compare and contrast this with God's purity. God is totally clean and pure; there's nothing bad in Him. He doesn't need to be "filtered."
Next, add something you think is very foul into the water and stir it up. (It's gross, but if you have an animal and could add a bit of its droppings to the water, the result is very effective) Ask, "Would you be willing to drink this nasty, polluted water? Why? Why not?" The tiniest bit of something foul destroys the whole glass of water. The tiniest bit of sin would destroy Gods holiness; He would not be pure. God cannot be in a relationship with someone who has been stained or "made dirty" with sin and remain pure and clean. It is important for us to remember that even what we may consider "just a little sin" still makes our clean heart dirty.
The good news is that God made a way for us to be washed clean and pure so we CAN have a relationship with Him! When you accept Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, He washes your sins away once and for all.
