What Does God Look Like?

Some years ago, Art Linkletter hosted a popular television program called, "Kids Say the Darndest Things."  While interviewing third grade students, Mr. Linkletter found one boy with crayons in hand.  He was sketching an obviously important picture.

The host asked, "What are you drawing, son?"

Surprised his drawing wasn’t obvious, the boy explained, "It's a picture of God!"

Well, Mr. Linkletter was reared in the home of a Baptist minister.  So, he suggested, "But no one knows what God looks like."

The boy sat up proudly and announced, "They will when I get through!"

Isn't that the way with so many?  They picture God as they want Him to be!    But no matter how hard you try; you cannot make God into what you want. 

There’s one place to find the true picture of God… in His Word, the Bible. Then, when you truly know Him, you can reflect His likeness.

For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of God in the face of Christ.                        2 Corinthians 4:6

And we have put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.  Ephesians 4:24 ESV

In everything set them an example by doing what is good.  In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.  Titus 2:7-8

My life can reflect the attributes of God as His Holy Spirit empowers me and my love for Him and knowledge ofHim grows each day.
