Partial Obedience

The Bible tells the story of a husband and wife named Ananias and Saphira. They were part of the early church. During that time, believers were committed to sharing all their possessions with one another.
Ananias sold a large piece of property he owned. But he and his wife held back some of the profits for themselves. They appeared to be in full obedience when they brought the money to the church. But God revealed the truth. When the couple was questioned, they denied holding back anything. As a result, God struck them dead. You can read the full account in Acts 5.
Their story is a warning for us today: partial obedience is still disobedience. God wants us to follow all of His commands – not just those we think will suit our interests. Dear one, don’t hold back. Obey God completely today!
This is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord: I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds. --Hebrews 10:16
