Beware of Selective Obedience

God commanded the Israelites to make sacrifices to Him.  So, they vowed to give freely of their choice possessions and the first-born of all their herds.

Unfortunately, they strayed from that original promise. They sacrificed sick and unfit lambs.  They began engaging in pagan rituals and rejected God’s Law. They thought they were still being obedient because of what they were doing.  But their hearts were far from the Lord.

The tragedy is—we are often guilty of the exact same thing.  Oh, we attend church, tithe, and read the Bible, but it’s out of habit rather than a love for the Lord!

Dear one, what you do begins with a heart for God.  He cares about your relationship with Him most of all.

Ps 18:20-24

The Lord rewarded me for doing right;

he restored me because of my innocence.

For I have kept the ways of the Lord ;

I have not turned from my God to follow evil.

I have followed all his regulations;

I have never abandoned his decrees.

I am blameless before God;

I have kept myself from sin.

The Lord  rewarded me for doing right.

He has seen my innocence.

This I Believe:

My relationship with Christ will be reflected in my actions.
