Day 1: Our Truthful God

Because GOD IS TOTALLY TRUTHFUL, I can trust what the Bible says is true, and live by it.

Read or quote the memory verse:   Every word of God proves true. ~ Proverbs 30:5 Discover God Bible, (NLT).

God is Holy. He is perfect in every way, totally pure with no evil in Him. No other religion worships a Holy (perfect & clean).

Why do people lie? (They don't want to get in trouble, or they want people to think they're something they aren't.)

The memory verse tells us about the truthfulness of God's word.

Let's say it together:

Every word of God proves true.
- Proverbs 30:5, Discover God Bible, (NLT).

God's words are always true. Listen to what the Bible says in Numbers 23:19 about God's truth:

God is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through?  - Discover God Bible, (NLT).

What does this verse tell you about God? (He's not like us; He doesn't lie, doesn't change His mind, and always does what He promises.)

What does this verse tell you about people? (We do lie, we do change our mind, and we don't always keep our promises.)

It's not that we lie all the time. Hopefully, we try to be truthful most of the time, but the fact is, we all lie at some point in our life. God never does.

Let's read Isaiah 40:25-31 and find out why God has no reason to lie.

"To whom will you compare Me? Who is My equal?" asks the Holy One. Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name. Because of His great power and incomparable strength not a single one is missing. O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles? O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights? Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of His understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.  - Discover God Bible, (NLT).

When we lie, we expose our weakness or the fact that we have trouble doing what's right all the time.

The Bible is clear; God doesn't have any weaknesses. He has nothing to prove and no one He needs to impress. He never has to worry about getting in trouble.

Look at the attributes below. How do God's other attributes enable Him to be totally truthful all the time?

God Is Holy (Perfect and Clean)

If God told a lie, He wouldn't be perfect and clean.

God Is Everywhere

He always knows the correct answer (the truth) because He is always with us.

God Is All-Powerful

He can do what He says He will do. He doesn't have to lie to get His way.

"Because God knows the end from the beginning,
not one of His statements ever turns out to be a misdirection.
He does not shade the truth or leave out an essential part.
His absolute truth applies to every situation."
