As a young man my dad was a materialist and humanist. Success in life was measured by the accumulation of material possessions, honors, applause, and the praise of men.

The drive to succeed influenced everything he did and it was paying off.  Dad moved to Hollywood to make his millions and quickly started several thriving companies.  The idea of God, or a Savior, or the Bible, had little place in his life.  He felt no need for God at all.

Bill Bright may not have pursued God, but God certainly pursued him!  Dad told it this way:

I remember the day I became aware of Him.  God’s sovereign hand arranged for circumstances I could not ignore.  I had to find out if He was real.  I was drawn to check out a church where I heard about the great Creator God of the universe and discovered my head had been in the sand -- the sand of mundane, selfish interests and temporal pursuits.

I was moved to look up, beyond my microscopic world, at the wonder of creation, behind which was an obvious Creator.  The more I learned about the One who, according to the Bible, came to this earth in the greatest act of love the world would ever has ever known, my eyes were opened to the truth:  Jesus of Nazareth, God's only Son, died in my place, for my sins, and He wants a relationship with me!

My dad’s head came out of the sand and he fully surrendered his life to Jesus.  He often said it was the greatest adventure in life!

Your View of God Really Matters …

Today. is your head in the sand when it comes to living in light of who God really is?  What holds you back from fully surrendering to God? Until you surrender unconditionally, you will never experience the incredible adventure God offers you. If you haven't already, why don't you take the first step today---surrender.

1 Chronicles 29:11 NLT  Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty.  Everything in the heavens and on earth is Yours, O Lord, and this is Your kingdom.  We adore You as the One who is over all things.

Isaiah 40:26  Look up into the heavens. Who created all the stars? He brings them out one after another, calling each by its name.

GOD, because You are sovereign, I surrender my life and plans to You.
