Brenda was hurrying through the supermarket when she knocked over a display of shoelaces.  Embarrassed, she threw one packet into her cart and paid for it.

She had stopped at the store to pick up a few things on her way to visit her friend, Donald, in the hospital.  His arms and legs were paralyzed after he fell off a ladder.

“Brenda,” Donald said when she arrived, “sometimes I feel as though God just doesn’t seem to care anymore.”

All Brenda could say was, “You know He cares.”  As Brenda began to leave, Donald asked, “By the way, the nurse broke one of my shoestrings.  Could you get me a new pair?”

Brenda opened her purse and pulled out the laces she had just bought and laced them into Donald’s shoes.

They couldn’t believe it!  Even though Donald couldn’t walk or tie his shoes, God had provided new laces just for him.  Donald realized that if God cared about something as simple as his shoelaces, he certainly cared about his condition.  The Lord does care about the details of life!  Jesus was in the boat with His disciples when a furious storm came up.  Waves started breaking over the boat.  The disciples looked for Jesus and found Him sleeping.  Waking him, the disciples cried out, “’Lord, save us!  We’re going to drown!’ He replied, ‘You of little faith, why are you so afraid?’  Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm” (Matthew 8:25,26).

Friend, God cared for Donald and for the disciples.  But, just as important, He cares for you.  He sees your needs, emotional or physical, down to the most minute detail.

So, what’s on your mind today?  Are you riding the stormy sea?  Or do you simply need a pair of shoelaces?  God wants to provide for you.  Open the door and, by faith, let Him in.

“He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just.  A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He.”  Deuteronomy 32:4
