Hope for America

Those who know me know that I am not a “gloom and doom” person. Since Vonette and I received the Lord Jesus Christ many years ago, we have been filled with God’s love and joy. We count it a privilege to share that great love with hundreds of millions of others around the world. I am nearly always optimistic, hopeful, expectant, and satisfied to be walking by faith and trusting God for every opportunity I have. I truly believe that our “problems” are only God’s “opportunities” in disguise.
I believe with all my heart that God can still put this great nation back on track if we will trust and obey Him. With His help and guidance, we can complete the task of fulfilling the Great Commission, the mission to which our Founding Fathers were committed.
My dear friends, I ask you to hear my heart as I attempt to speak the truth in love. If the people of this country do not repent and return to God, the days ahead of us will be dark indeed. Now is the time to be loving, serving, obeying, and trusting God. We must lay aside every weight and the sin that ensnares us so that we can run with endurance the race set before us.
But this is the good news! God has made a way of escape for us from our sin. He promises to hear and answer our prayers (Isaiah 59:1) and to heal our land (2 Chronicles 7:14). He will also show us the way that we should go (Isaiah 30:21; Luke 1:79). A day is coming when the time of divine wrath and judgment will be over, and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3) will grant final salvation, peace, and blessings evermore to His people (Isaiah 40:1–5).
I readily admit that I do not have all the answers to the problems that grip this nation. Many others have published plans of action over the years, and I subscribe to some of these. A number of pastors, evangelists, prophets, teachers, and spiritual leaders have spoken out forcefully and clearly on the signs of the times. Those warnings notwithstanding, I have no choice at this stage of our national decline except to speak out about what I believe the Holy Spirit is saying to America today.
My good friend Henry Blackaby said, “God is always at work around you. You must make major adjustments in your life to join God in what He is doing. Then you will see results.” Revival is the work of a loving, caring God, revealing Himself to us in ways we cannot ignore. Families are put back together. Bitterness, unforgiveness, and hatred melt. Unhealthy habits fall away.
The appeal of 2 Chronicles 7:14, which calls us to repent and seek the face of God, was not written for the mass of society; rather, it was directed to God’s people, the ancient Jews as well as present-day followers of Christ. I am convinced that this process has already begun, and it now seems as though God is ready to take His people to the next level. A tangible action plan in the spiritual realm, if pursued vigorously by believers, can even yet serve as a launching ramp for rebuilding the United States and putting it back on course with its national mission.
I challenge you to take this step right now.
