Ep 32:  

Is it a sin NOT to vote?

Some people say: “Brad, why are you so OBSESSED with VOTING?

You should be OBSESSED with helping to fulfill the GREAT COMMISSION.”

 

Folks, I’m OBSESSED with trying to FOLLOW Jesus.

Jesus’ top priority was loving his Father and loving those He came to save.

The Great Commission, and all his OTHER commands flowed from His love for the Father.

 

My earthly father, Bill Bright, loved Jesus with his ENTIRE heart.  He was obsessed with Jesus.  Because of that, he was obsessed with what Jesus was obsessed with.

 

He was obsessed with the GREAT COMMISSION.  He probably personally led 10,000 people to Christ.  He was obsessed with feeding the poor.  For years, he fasted one day a week and gave the money he saved by not eating to help feed the poor.  He was obsessed with helping the vulnerable and helpless—which is why he threatened from time to time to chain himself to the pillars of the Supreme Court until Roe v. Wade was overturned.  Fortunately, my mother walked him back from that cliff on more than one occasion.  And he was obsessed with helping his brothers and sisters be better stewards of everything God had given them, so he wrote a little booklet entitled: “Your 5 Duties as a Christian Citizen.”  One of those duties was to vote.

 

25 million Christians don’t vote in presidential elections.  Why?  Today we’re going to explore why Christians don’t vote and whether it’s a sin NOT to vote.

 

If you are a Christian the only question you need to answer is: “As a representative of Jesus on this planet, does Jesus want me to vote or stay home?”  Let’s talk about it.
